It’s Monday 23rd June, a couple of days of sunshine before the big wet comes in for 3-4 days, because of the impending wet we have decided to camp up at Pakawau Beach Park Campsite which is a lovely place. We have been here before a couple of years ago and loved the place although we were then parked across the road at the old school house. Once parked up and settled down, we enjoyed our regular winter brunch of porridge with banana, buckwheat, blue Berries and hemp seeds before a walk along the beach.

Today is Tuesday 24th June, woke to a beautiful sunrise… unfortunately spoilt by persistent aircraft leaving lines all over the skies, oh well cup of tea and it’s off for a bike ride to Puponga 11km up the road towards the spit. On arrival at the spit we were surprised to see that the cafe was gone and appeared to have not been there for the past 4-5 years… a victim of the draconian Covid laws by the Adern Government. Got back just in time to have brunch.

After brunch a wee rest to enjoy the sunshine before heading off to Collingwood 15km east of Pākawau. Collingwood is a small village with a couple of stores, a garage and the local tavern to keep the villagers happy. Had a wee drive around the village which took all of 5minutes before stopping for a cuppa at the Old Courthouse Cafe to enjoy a hot drink and chocolate cake. Now back to the Moho for a relaxing evening.
