We spent our last day in Omau driving up the coast to Mokihinui as the weather was inclement the ocean was fair pumping leaving “white snow”everywhere it was quite surreal!

We experienced an unreal thunder storm overnight banging and crashing reverberating round the hills and boy did it rain! Typical West Coast down pour.
Driving south to Hokitika was a picturesque as it always is on the coast the Tasman thumping in on the coastline and a very big swell. Arriving at Hokitika late afternoon staying at the NZMCA park. Enjoy a leisurely evening.
Tuesday 15th July
Today we are riding from Hokitika to Hurunui Jacks part of the Wilderness Trail. All geared up leave 1000hrs following the Hokitika River upstream on the old tram line then onto bush section which we both love riding through it pops back out onto the main road to Lake Kaniere for 6 kms upon reaching Hurunui Jacks approx 13.5 kms we turn round for return journey. Back to MOHO for a well deserved lunch! Not a strenuous ride some ups and downs and some magnificent views of snow covered mountains.

Hokitika Gorge

After lunch we drove up to the gorge such a spectacular sight! A fabulous 2km loop track to walk round with plenty viewing platforms, two great swing bridges

A fabulous way to spend the afternoon and the sun was shining!!
