It’s been a quite a long time in the Deep South this year as we have allowed time for Judes hip to make a full recovery… well that only took 6 weeks anyway. Now months later still here and have enjoyed doing little jobs around Tom & Kimbo’s cottage, constantly taking Blake for walks around the farm and a few day tramps such as Aparima Hut and Long Hilly Track.

Tried my hand at carpentry putting shelves up in the cottage using all recycled timber and iron which gave me a justifiable excuse to buy a bench top planer and thickenesser.😁👍🏼
The Shelves were from old pallets and the hooks were made from used rake tines.

One of the hardest challenges was getting the garden into a beautiful and pleasant place to enjoy a day in, a place well sheltered from most directions of wind flow with plenty of sunshine. Although it has taken two seasons to get it there the result is fantastic. The work Jude has put in is astounding and as she says rewarding.

The other addition was the hen house which we have placed 10 hens for the reward of 9 – 10 fresh free range per day and these luck hens are spoilt rotten by Jude who tailors their diet to the time of season.

My last task was putting a gate to access the garden from the driveway of which would make access to the clothesline a lot easier by saving the walk from the top gate which in the winter may or would be quite wet.

What now… oh yeah something about digging up the potatoes in the big paddock!😉
