If there’s one day of the week I love it’s fish’n’chip Friday, however as we’re now on the road again after being stationary for too many months, fish’n’chip Friday was going to be advice of luck as we were not familiar with any decent fish’n’chip shop in Ashburton.

It was still early afternoon and we had just parked up, unhooked the Jimny from the back of the Moho and headed off to the supermarket for some stores before heading around to visit our dear friend John and Carol. It was awesome to catch up with changed to having a meal out John and Carol in Ashburton. The place highly recommended by Carol and John was an Asian Fusion Restaurant called the Formosa in Ashburton.

Before going any further we headed back to the Moho for a spruce up and half an hour later our friends picked us up and we headed into the town for our evening dinner. The Formosa was on the SH1 on the left side heading north about 150m past Mega10 store.

Sitting down at our table the place was well serviced by the community as it was full which is a good sign. Carol had told us that the desserts were unreal and to her the highlight of dinning there and she particularly recommended the Chocolate Dome. Jude ordered a salmon dish called Teriaki Salmon and I got the Beef Fried Rice and both meals were superb.

Dessert time came around soon enough and Jude took Carols recommendation of ordering the Chocolate Dome and I went for a lighter called Chocolate Butterfly Log. When they brought out the Chocolate bomb it did look like a huge chocolate cannonball, the waitress then slowly poured hot caramel over the ball and it fell open exposing a small chocolate mousse center with a dab of whipped cream, strawberry and raspberry topping… stunning. It’s not anywhere near a fish’n’chip friday but it was just a lovely experience of well prepared and presented food and the staff were awesome.
