While the rest of the country is having a ho hum summer, Motueka has been having a pretty good summer season, not as good as the last couple of years, but overall better than most other places. Jude and I have enjoyed some hot as days and caught up with some friends we have met during our Moho life. The house sit is over and it’s now back on the road… at the moment we are still in Motueka enjoying the good weather while waiting for the NZMCA “Music In The Mountains” Rally at the end of this month (Jan). We have had a wonderful time hiking, swimming and riding our MTBs which we have had the company of our dear friends Jim and Tristine Cooke. In the first week of January we enjoyed the company of Rosie and Giles for a few days enjoying a a couple of day trips in the Suzuki Jimnys to Rabbit Island and feeding the sandflies at Lake Rotoroa before driving over the steep Porika 4×4 track, really enjoyed the time with them. Yesterday we had the delight of meeting two good friends John and Anna from Christchurch, two awesome people we met over the summer last year… John is responsible for me taking to quality single malt whisky 😁👍🏽. Life is really tough living the dream at this time of the year, waking up when you want, breakfasting outside in the morning warmth, planning your day around biking, swimming and endless happy hours with fellow Moho’ers before retiring to our Moho for evening BBQs… hell someone has to do it lol. We really feel for our families down in Southland who have really had an extended winter…. poor buggers! Maybe this 2020 Xmas they could join us in the Tasman District for a well deserved real summer season…. but luck being a sporadic unpredictable phenomenon, it would probably be the worst season possible up here just because they’re here lol. We are both looking forward to what this year brings “Hopefully if fate stays favourable the other end of it at least”. We also look forward to seeing the changes in our grand children as they grow another year. This then brings me to appreciate the wonders of social media with the likes of Facebook, Snapchat, Instagram, Messenger and FaceTime all of which must be considered a technical leash to all our family and friends… it is true that these media advances enable us to live our Moho Life style at the same time watch our families especially our grandies grow and change on a daily basis… as I said once before, no matter how advanced media technology advances it will never creat anything to replace the physical hugs and kisses.
