Jude on Mt Vernon silhouetted against the sun in a light mist.

Well you would think after a month that we would be running out of things to do in Christchurch, however it is amazing how much there is to do. Christchurch has a lot to offer for the physically needy folk who like a good challenge without going too far from home (if you live here especially). Jude and I have been doing a lot of exploring and apart from the odd excursion into the city and surrounding urban areas like Riccarton, Wigram, Linwood and Brighton, have yet to move away from the Port Hills. The Port Hills are so full of Mountain Bike and walking tracks that it is going to for the two months we are here and then I suspect we won’t get it all done. It dosen’t matter if we do or don’t get it all done as it is just brilliant to be able to do these physical activities.

Two days ago Jude and I did the Crater walk along the Summit ridge from Dyers Pass Road, around Sugar Loaf (a peak with a transmitter on it) and up Mt Vernon returning to Dyers Pass Road. The scenery was spectacular even though we were shrouded in mist most of the time with small cluster of bush walking and views over both the Canterbury Plains and Lyttelton Harbour and surrounding district.

Lunch break during one of the many rides.
