Another day blessed with good weather and a walk was the days exercise.

Jude has selected the Pupu Hydro Power Station track a 6km with about 230 meters of vertical meters to climb. We had done this track 5 years ago and it was nice to see they have done a lot of work to make it easier to walk, the last time we did it we had to climb up a very slippery slope with tree roots to negate. Once at the top of the climb the trail levels out and follows the water race for approximately 2.2km.

We made the good choice of walking the track anti clockwise as you have a pretty sharp climb before the 2.2km level walk along the water race. At the end of the water race you come to the old dam, it’s there that you climb another vertical 100 meters before descending back down to the valley floor at least you get a break in between. Going clockwise is obviously a steady climb all the way up with the bonus being once at the top it’s all downhill.
