Wanted to head away for a week or two after a fantastic Christmas however were unsure about where to as weather forecast look pretty bleak no matter where we decided to go. After a bit of discussion Jude suggested heading up to Te Anau for 3-4 days. Yep that will do me. After a day of getting tidied up from being settled into the farm for a few months we headed off. I don’t know what it is about Highway 94 but every time we travel this stretch of road we have near misses with cars overtaking when they have little time to do so safely, either overtaking us and cutting in on us to avoid oncoming traffic or pass a vehicle when they are coming toward us without time to do so safely. On all occasions we are forced to brake hard to allow them in. Anyway we made it to Te Anau without sustaining any damage. Got setup with awning rolled out and of to get fresh raspberries and a walk around the village… surprisingly the weather was hot and humid. The NZMCA Park was almost full and as per the friendliness of most members it didn’t take long to roll out a couple of cold beers and have a who, where, what, when and why! I call it the “wh inquisition” who are you who do you know, where are you from where are you going, what do/did you do, when did you arrive, when are you leaving and why.
