Funny day with the weather today, hot n dry, cool with light rain… a bit of a mixed bag however more warmth than cooler weather. The jobs todays, pickup Toms Ute from Oreti Plains, tow boat to Otautau motors for WOF then repair sliding gate at the stock yard. Jude and I attacked the task repairing the sliding gate, problem was the top rail was bent out of shape and the rollers had seized. 10mm x 32mm steel double track was certainly a test of engineering for us two novelist engineers. But after a lot of trial and error we were successful at the end…Read More →

Had lunch with my youngest brother Trev today,.. I say younger because he certainly ain’t the smallest. Trev was down from Fielding for a visit. We went to the BATCH which is my favourite cafe in Invercargill for lunch where we enjoyed seafood chowder (best in town) and yarned about the old days and those to come. Look forward to catching up with my older sister Una (aka Noons) who is in New Zealand for a couple of weeks. Hopefully we can get the Kiwi kiwi’s all together for an evening meal next week.Read More →

Jude and I were in Australia recently and while we were there we experience some pulled pork which was cooked by Riki Simeon in his Traeger Smoker and it was so bloody nice I made a pig of myself. While spending the summer in the Deep South, Jude, Tom and Sam invested in a Traeger Smoker. The flavours and texture of the smoked meat is mouth watering. Jude now is relentless in learning and experimenting with differentRead More →

Funny day weather wise today at Rays Rest… sunny as and raining lol. However it was a good day for fishing today with the drone. 1st drop nothing, second we caught a boat (small dingy went past and picked up our line, fortunately the guys knew what had happened and stopped and released our line from their outboard leg), 3rd drop a nice snapper and 4th drop a nice snapper. First two drops were around 350 meters out and the two drops that Jude caught the snapper were just over 400 meters out. Both catches were just after full tide. Jude is stoked with herRead More →

It has been quite sometime since we have put a post up as we have been really busy over the past 6 months… yeah I know sounds a bit pathetic and I have to agree to be honest. The good news is the Drone Baby Stalk is delivering a brand new one at no cost. However its been a hectic and brutal 30 months with the “Covidie thingy” and it has been hard watching as friends and family have been divided by thisRead More →

Long story but here goes. While up north did a first fishing attempt with the drone and it went well until it crashed into the ocean on the second flight.. the fault was with me for not handling the situation appropriately… no matter how I tried to blame something or someone else. On testing the drone it came up with an error, so rather than risk flying it I sent it to drone hospital to let the expert drone doctors check and or repair it. Took about 6 weeks to get her back with the tick of approval from the repair service. Today the timeRead More →
