Kaiteriteri – Sunday

Cool start to the day with an overnight low of 4°C fortunately the morning presented with a clear sky again which meant the day would warm up to a expected 16° as the day moved on as what has been the case since we arrived in the Tasman district. Since arriving Jude and I have knocked out quite a few kilometers on day hikes and mountain biking tracks so a rest day was today with a short walk along the Little Kaiteriteri Walkway…. Not really a long walk but short and sharp.

With good weather and lovely views it was definitely a great day to just browse and enjoy life, get those special memory pictures and just chill. Both Kaiteriteri and Little Kaiteriteri are beautiful places to swim in the summer and still warm enough for some to swim during the winter, however I didn’t dip my toes in to feel the water temp so just enjoyed staying warm and dry on the beach.

Although it is winter I’m pleased to see so many families with the kids picnicking on the beach playing and still braving the water. Jude and I both enjoy any day irrelevant to what the weather, however a good sunny day just makes you appreciate that good feeling of wellbeing that the sun can give you.

Later in the day we catch up with dear friends Tristine and Jim who we have known since starting our Moho lifestyle and have settled in Kaiteriteri’s Bethany Park. They had hoped to be back from Blenheim to meet with us earlier in the week but unfortunately Tristine manage to rearrange the bone structures in her forearm while walking their son’s dogs arriving back last night.

I must mention also one of Jude’s favorite Eateries the “Smoking Barrel” who make the most yummyest donuts and coming up with novelty ideas. They don’t only look nice but the combinations of fillings and presentations are amazing. I chose the Chocolate Bomb which had a custard center and a syringe with chocolate sauce to squirt into the center and or over the top while Jude fancied a donut (of forgotten name) which had a toffee apple like coating and a unusual greenish center filling.

We leave for Takaka in the Golden Bay Area tomorrow staying at Port Tarakohe a favorite NZMCA park for Jude and I simply for its location and stunning view straight from window.
