(above photo: The imposter cat) As we approach the end of our time in Te Anau, we look forward to the rush of the next few months building up to Christmas… it’s going to be hectic. Sunday 30th September is the day our friends return from their Rarotonga holiday and the end of our house sit for them. Have to admit that we now know that some cats can be strange and unpredictable. Our friends having faith in us to look after their pets is a compliment… but sometimes things just don’t go to plan. Two furry cuties called Flea and Ginny were the catsRead More →

Isn’t it amazing how a brief encounter with a person can end up with a moment of regret and sadness. With Jude and I doing a house sit in Te Anau for a month which started on the 4th September, we were going to be here during the All Blacks two home test matches. Deciding that we should find a little bit of atmosphere to watch the game so we would watch the game at the Te Anau Club. The First game being against the Argentinians was being shown and we arrived in time to grab a beer and bar table. The place was notRead More →

The day dawned rather grey but within a couple of hours the sun once again made an appearance, after yesterday’s hike a bike ride was in order…. lunch packed, off on our trusty steeds, a cool breeze wafted past us as we rode towards the Waiau River, muscles objected today took a bit of time to get into the groove of biking after yesterday’s uphill grunt. With having electric bikes I thought I may have to resort to power but managed to bike 15 km uphill and down dale without assistance. Fantastic weather in Te Anau today and of course with great weather comes the urge to feel energetic. Up early this morning and of toward Milford Sound… well at least until we reached the Divide anyway. With our day-packs loaded with nibbles and lunch Jude and I did a short sharp climb up to Key Summit. It was interesting on the way in from Te Anau, the sides of the roads were littered with fallen trees and branches that the last snow brought down, the weight obviously too much for the trees to hold. Arriving at the Divide it was slightly cool but we knewRead More →

Take 10 Give yourself a break. From everything. Is the house clean? What time was that appointment? Did i get that work stuff done before the deadline? What will we have for tea? Are the uniforms washed? Is it my mums birthday today??!! What is a fly called if it doesn’t have wings? Does it ever switch off?? Give yourself a break, get out of your head for a good 10 minutes. Switch the to do list to silent mode and embrace the 10 minute holding period. We have soooo much to do in so little time, can you believe we only have 24 hoursRead More →

Fun fact… you’re allowed time out … who knew?! 🤷🏽‍♀️ You are allowed guilt free, time out, do what what makes you happy, free time. I know right!? It’s a crazy concept, you get to ditch the day in, day out routine and do something you enjoy. Wether you are a parent or not, we all need to remove ourselves from the daily grind and recharge our batteries in what ever way see fit -within reason of course lol. My time outs usually consist of estuary walks and 6am gym sessions, I also enjoy social outings containing a shit load of food and a f**kRead More →
