Yesterday was Judes birthday and it turned out to be the warmest day of autumn. Six weeks ago I started to look at what I should get her for her birthday and as Jude is one who says “I don’t require birthday gifts”, it was going to be hard finding something. By chance Tom had purchased a Tatonka Backpack and Jude was so impressed with it, as Jude’s hip replacement had gone so well and she has become so active enjoying long walks between 6 -10 km and as she also had been planning to Tramp into Green Lake, I found the perfect gift, a Women’s Tatonka backpack. The problem was trying to get in to the Hunting & Fishing store to see if they had one in stock . As Jude loves the Hunting & Fishing store and we always do everything together, going to the Hunting & Fishing store was going to be difficult. The opportunity came when we were parked at the NZMCA Park in Invercargill and she wanted to go for a walk into the city to check out the new Hunting & Fishing store, and through a convenient need of Jude to pop into another I took the opportunity to say I’ll just meet you at Hunting & Fishing. As soon as I got there I quickly sorted out a friend that worked there and as they didn’t have any in stock she was able to order one in. I informed Tom what I was getting her and he asked if he could go halves so everything was sorted. As the Moho was not big enough to hide a new pair of socks the next task was to get it home and hidden so Jude wouldn’t discover it. So when it arrived at the Hunting & Fishing store Tom was able to pick it up… gift sorted.

One month after that Judes birthday arrived, Tom and Kimbo were up early and ready to head off so we presented her with her birthday gift. After all the “Oh you shouldn’t haves”, and expressing her excitement of having such a quality backpack, Tom and Kimberley headed off. Kimberley and Tom arrived at the Winton Maternity for a checkup as her contractions were narrowing and then to Invercargill Obstetrics and at 1115hrs Elouise Ava Edge announced her arrival. What more of a beautiful gift could Tom and Kimberley give, and that blew my gift out of the water lol😂….congratulations and HAPPY BIRTHDAY NANA JUDE!
