We arrived at Pinders Pond just out of Roxburgh yesterday, it was a stunning afternoon and got about charging bike batteries etc for our ride along the Roxburgh Gorge Trail from the Roxburgh Dam to Shingle Creek. After a good afternoon with plenty of sun the BBQ was out and ready to cook some awesome steaks for dinner and a nice wine. Waking from a good sleep to an overcast but not cold morning, the pond was like glass and so the feature image is of Pinders Pond. The only thing to do was clean up the breakfast dishes and through the door mat inRead More →

Beautiful colours this morning as we wake and look out the window of our moho. But as we know the old saying “Red sky at night shepherds delight, red sky in the morning shepherds warning”. However just pleased to wake up these days. Hopefully the weather hangs off until we finish our ride to the Coffee Float from Cromwell end this time.Read More →

A wet day with the promise of fine weather lead to a division to head to Cromwell for a few days… that was our thoughts yesterday as we packed up (well pulled the door mat in lol). I’d spent time washing our Moho to get the past six months travelling off her and was really hoping that the roads would at least be dry for the trip up the road from Otautau in Southland…. nah! They were wet and full of trucks throwing muddy spray up over any vehicles passing by them in any direction… if it was covid instead of muddy spray we’d allRead More →

Leaving Trevelyans we head back to Gisborne to spend a few days with Harry and Tui,😊 It was also a chance to get vehicles serviced, COF done and of course some biking and walking before embarking on a much anticipated exploration of the east coast up to East Cape. The weather was quite settled and we were hopeful of heading away, Nek Minute the heavens opened the flood gates lol it absolutely bucketed, looking at the long range forecast which was not for settled days we go to Plan B, forgo our eastern tiki tour and decide to head back inland to Rotorua. We leaveRead More →

15th December has arrived so quickly, we have settled into our house sit. Jude decides that we need to have a day out of Motueka and a change from our regular MTB ride to Rewaka’s Ginger Box for our daily coffee, a round trip of 25 km. She had been looking at some rides in a cycling tracks book she found at our house sit and thought the Flora Track would be a good change…. marked as “easy” she seemed pretty happy to leave the eBike batteries at home for this one…. I say nothing. Well I’m no stranger to Jude and her desires toRead More →

Leaving Balmoral we head to Waiau to travel the inland route to Kaikoura. The pass through to Kaikoura was windy, hilly still showing signs of damage from the Kaikoura earthquake of 2016. Overall a pleasant trip through the gorge and one of the many routes we had not taken until now. Arriving at Kaikoura it was warm and we spent two lovely days walking the town looking at the galleries before deciding it was time to move on. While at the NZMCA park we met John and Barbara Kerse, a lovely couple from Rangiora and now keep in touch with them via social media. LookingRead More →
