With the visit to Te Anau completed for our short Central Otago and Southland circuit, its time to head to Invercargill via Tuatapere and the South Coast… of course its going to be a slow trip as we have been doing all the way around our trip stopping to watch our kiwis in their olympic events and today was not different…. a wee bit taxing on our RBI data but well worth it. We arrived at Pinders Pond just out of Roxburgh yesterday, it was a stunning afternoon and got about charging bike batteries etc for our ride along the Roxburgh Gorge Trail from the Roxburgh Dam to Shingle Creek. After a good afternoon with plenty of sun the BBQ was out and ready to cook some awesome steaks for dinner and a nice wine. Beautiful colours this morning as we wake and look out the window of our moho. But as we know the old saying “Red sky at night shepherds delight, red sky in the morning shepherds warning”. We awoke to a good frost and fog! Finally at 11am it cleared. Then off on our first bike ride after a long spell off our bikes. Starting at Burtons Creek where we spent the night, our mission was to find the coffee boat! We’d been looking forward to riding this new track and had heard a lot of good comments. A wet day with the promise of fine weather lead to a division to head to Cromwell for a few days… that was our thoughts yesterday as we packed up (well pulled the door mat in lol).
