Arties Football

We had the opportunity to go and watch Arties football yesterday where his team Queens Park FC was taking on Old Boys. So it was up early for a cuppa and then the 45km drive to the Waikiwi Domain. Wasn’t a frost but it was extremely cold and overcast, even with gloves I found the fingers getting numb on the tips finding it uncomfortable getting some good shots with the iPhone. I guess the young boys higher metabolism and the warm ups help them overcome the cold.

The game gets under way and Artie is their number one goalie. Felt for him as he watched his team get to work putting big pressure on Old Boys staying warm in doing so while Artie had to find ways to stay warm without exposing his goal to Old Boys. While Queens Park spent approx 80% of the time dominating the game there was the odd shot from Old Boys for goal of which Artie manage to stop all but one.

In the end it was a good performance from Queens Park FC with a good display of foot work, accurate passing and taking the game 4 – 1 . Well done Artie and that’s not just for your team doing well but also for you remaining warm enough to move quickly when you had too!
