Friday night we found out Tessa was playing for the Otautau Stags rugby B-Team and so a late minute decision was made to go and support Tessa. We were there for a 17:30hr kickoff, it was a beautiful evening at the Riverton Rugby Club grounds, not a cloud in the sky, however with the sun dropping down behind the horizon there was a beautiful sunset however the cold quickly set in. Dressed up like an Eskimo with good layers of Marino clothing, alpaca socks and a cosy warm puffer jacket, we were ready and keen to see how the teams went in these conditions. RightRead More →

We had the opportunity to go and watch Arties football yesterday where his team Queens Park FC was taking on Old Boys. So it was up early for a cuppa and then the 45km drive to the Waikiwi Domain. Wasn’t a frost but it was extremely cold and overcast, even with gloves I found the fingers getting numb on the tips finding it uncomfortable getting some good shots with the iPhone. I guess the young boys higher metabolism and the warm ups help them overcome the cold. The game gets under way and Artie is their number one goalie. Felt for him as he watchedRead More →

This is one of the best games I have seen between two very good teams. Although the Buckaroos won this game 36 – 21 both teams were dynamic and displayed good defence and shooting skills. The Buckaroos were a tad slow starting and quickly found themselves down by five goals as Drummond came firing on all cylinders. As the game progressed the Buckaroos found their mojo and pegged back into contention with accurate passing and good defence. Drummond showed a lot of courage and kept attacking and putting a lot of pressure on the Buckaroos and managing to net plenty of goals, however by theRead More →

Today Judes granddaughter Tessa Edge competed in the Under 10 years X-Country event being raced at Waimumu near Gore today. The race had to be re-run because in the first attempt some competitors took the wrong route due to it being poorly marked. This second attempt made it a harder task and really tested the endurance of the young girls. Tessa lead out from the start and never relented her lead and proudly become the new Southland Under 10 years female X-Country Champion. “Well done that girl…. Netball – Otautau v Waiau Was an early start for the day and running a little we arrived at the start of the second quarter and it seemed that the Buckaroos had good control of the game against Waiau. The first thing we notice is how tiny our Buckaroos were compared to the opposition, however the girls seemed to have their measure and were competing very well with good speed around the court and accuracy in their passes. The Buckaroos were solid in in both their defense and attack managing to gain a dominant scoreline by the end of the third quarter. In the fourthRead More →
