(Above image: The “Sign Of The Kiwi” cafe.) What a bugger of a game the boys (AB’s)put in last night… hey at least they can play like morons and still win, even with one man up they were not convincing and very lucky. The public are divided on the red card issue however the excuse he had his eyes on the ball is a tactic that players are adopting to make it look like they’re going for the ball, but he never left the ground and run underneath Barrett. Anyway we did another MTB ride up Evans Pass Road, along the hill tops with allRead More →

(Feature image: Late afternoon in Sumner) When Christchurch is sunny it is awesome… however over the last three weeks nature has feed us a continued diet of rain, wind and fog. Although it has not deterred Jude and I from doing walks and MTB’ing, I will say sunshine would definitely increase our enjoyment levels. Nether the less we still get out to the farmers markets etc. Today (Saturday) we headed over to Lyttelton to the Lyttelton Markets to get some more sauce via the Summit Road. The mist was as thick as pea soup as we headed up the Port Hills, but three quarters ofRead More →

From Jill & Lester – Well some of you who received way to many snap chats of ruins today might have guessed that we were mighty impressed with what unfolded before us today. I can tell you Mexico surprises us at every turn. We’ve not been disappointed with one day of it so far. So anyway at the moment we’re in Palanque which is a pretty agreeable town in itself. Earlier this morning we headed out of town to check out some Mayan ruins. On arrival we were approached by an English speaking guide offering his services. We took him on which proved a real bonus.Read More →

Last night was the last night that Tom and Kimberly in the South Island NZ for up to 2 years as they head to Auckland before flying to Canada. While in Auckland they will stay with Stewart Marshall until they fly out on Sunday. Being the last time here for some time to come we went out for an evening meal meeting Sophie and Finn at a Mexican restaurant in Central Christchurch. The food was very very nice and reasonably priced… (nice choice Sophie & Finn). Lots of “Remember when” moments as Tom and Sophie reminisced on the “ole” days gave us all some goodRead More →

Another wet day in the Garden City today and cool at the same time. No worries though there is always something to do in the Garden City and today Tom suggests 10 Pin Bowling. Jude and I have not been 10 Pin Bowling for at least 10 years so it was going to be an interesting session. After a hearty breakfast of porridge and joining Tom with Eggs Benny, it was off in the Jimny to Extreme Entertainment for 10 Pin Bowling. I have to say we had a really great time as Jude came out on top in the first game. The second wasRead More →

After a couple of weeks waiting our Suzuki Jimny has arrived. Two weeks ago Jude and I hunted around for a new Jimny in Christchurch, it was not a successful search as we ended up in Timaru where Hollands Suzuki had the only new Jimny JX a manual gearbox. We didn’t want the Sierra or Safari model with all the electronic luxuries like aircon, mags, roof rack, electric windows, central locking, electric side mirrors, side runner bars etc etc, we just wanted the JX basic model with no electrics to short out. The good thing is all the models are equal in every other aspect.Read More →
