Fine days down south are a rarity at the moment but I guess it’s that time of the year. With a break in the wet weather that has been hitting the country over the past 2 weeks… maybe more it was time to grab the first lot of grand children (William and Tessa) and head away for the day. Ok it wasn’t the warmest (for us more seasoned aged ones) but it was ok for the young high metabolise ice types. A good 4km walk along the beach in a cool breeze wasn’t too bad and the grandies seemed to enjoy the beach. Returning toRead More →

Don’t let people mistake your kindness for weakness…ever. We all know the motto, be kind to unkind people. Help those who need help. Put the shoe on the other foot and walk the footsteps of someone else to envisage their situation. However, learn to recognise the signs of when you are being taken advantage of rather than depended upon. Learn to recognise the difference between genuine need, and being a convenience. Learn to open yours eyes and decide when it’s time to ask “are you ok?” And when it’s time to say “you can do this on your own” Majority of us try our bestRead More →

I regularly visit FB to read what is happening in the lives of my loved ones and every now and then I am taken by what is said… some things are “Ok… don’t get it but ok?” and sometimes there are words of a “Moment in time”, something that just makes sense, something that makes you think, sometimes helps you find an answer or even just makes you go “Absolutely”. Tonight I read a statement by my daughter Dae -Maree in her Facebook post after a jogging session with my grand daughter Aijah, which I hope she doesn’t mind me sharing. “A treat of freshRead More →

Looks like the Kim and Tom have got things sorted in the first days of their Canadian experience, with the necessary details and information established its off for a familiarity recon around the local area they’re staying. With a temperature of about 30 degrees its a big change from the deep south of NZ at this time of the year. Envy these guys and their adventurous demeanor and both Jude and I are probably as excited as they are. Looking forward to keeping up on their adventures with their own posts on this site over the next two years. Their First Pics Of VancouverRead More →

From Jill & Lester – As I’ve said before, Mexico never ceases to surprise. Every day has been a blast. Today for example our plan for the day was to hire a couple of bikes and check out Merida a city of about 800,000. As we drove down to the bike hire outfit we got the feeling something was up as a lot of the center city roads were blocked off. Turned out the main street was closed off and alive with AC DC music at full noise while a pro bike race took place. Made the hiring of bikes with the language problem thatRead More →
