Well it is now the weekend and what was days to go only seems like hours now. It’s Friday night and it’s over to Lyttelton for dinner and the Lyttelton Festival Of Lights. It’s 1600hrs and we decided to go early as we wanted to beat the crowd and to ensure we don’t have to fight for a seat at any of the restaurants. Once over at Lyttelton which was a quick as easy drive, the market food stalls were setting and boy did the aroma of different food flood our hungry nostrils… easy decision, it’s going to be stall food for dinner but firstRead More →

(Shane writes) – Yes… it is true, the curtain is dropping fast here in Sumner as the end of our House Sit crashes in what seems quite abruptly. Two months ago we thought wow what a long time to explore the area, the thought that it is a long time, but actually its come around so fast. We have been out doing things every day barring one where the weather was just not suitable for anything. We have always managed to find something interesting to do wether its hiking, biking, dining, Movies, theater plays, 4×4 drive or some other Cantebury attraction, really there is soRead More →

Looks like the Kim and Tom have got things sorted in the first days of their Canadian experience, with the necessary details and information established its off for a familiarity recon around the local area they’re staying. With a temperature of about 30 degrees its a big change from the deep south of NZ at this time of the year. Envy these guys and their adventurous demeanor and both Jude and I are probably as excited as they are. Looking forward to keeping up on their adventures with their own posts on this site over the next two years. Their First Pics Of VancouverRead More →

(Feature image: One of the reconstructed streets of old Christchurch in the late 1800s) Yes folks another grey day in Christchurch today and it does not look like its going to improve in the near future. Getting out and about is still the protocol for us no matter the weather so we were off to Hagley Park for a walk. Hagley park is basically in Central Christchurch and although we have been there before it was only as a route from city center to motel. This time we walked around and through the park which is actually quite a large area. Although a cold, greyRead More →

From Jill & Lester – As I’ve said before, Mexico never ceases to surprise. Every day has been a blast. Today for example our plan for the day was to hire a couple of bikes and check out Merida a city of about 800,000. As we drove down to the bike hire outfit we got the feeling something was up as a lot of the center city roads were blocked off. Turned out the main street was closed off and alive with AC DC music at full noise while a pro bike race took place. Made the hiring of bikes with the language problem thatRead More →

(Above image: The “Sign Of The Kiwi” cafe.) What a bugger of a game the boys (AB’s)put in last night… hey at least they can play like morons and still win, even with one man up they were not convincing and very lucky. The public are divided on the red card issue however the excuse he had his eyes on the ball is a tactic that players are adopting to make it look like they’re going for the ball, but he never left the ground and run underneath Barrett. Anyway we did another MTB ride up Evans Pass Road, along the hill tops with allRead More →
