(above photo: The imposter cat) As we approach the end of our time in Te Anau, we look forward to the rush of the next few months building up to Christmas… it’s going to be hectic. Sunday 30th September is the day our friends return from their Rarotonga holiday and the end of our house sit for them. Have to admit that we now know that some cats can be strange and unpredictable. Our friends having faith in us to look after their pets is a compliment… but sometimes things just don’t go to plan. Two furry cuties called Flea and Ginny were the catsRead More →

Isn’t it amazing how a brief encounter with a person can end up with a moment of regret and sadness. With Jude and I doing a house sit in Te Anau for a month which started on the 4th September, we were going to be here during the All Blacks two home test matches. Deciding that we should find a little bit of atmosphere to watch the game so we would watch the game at the Te Anau Club. The First game being against the Argentinians was being shown and we arrived in time to grab a beer and bar table. The place was notRead More →

Fantastic weather in Te Anau today and of course with great weather comes the urge to feel energetic. Up early this morning and of toward Milford Sound… well at least until we reached the Divide anyway. With our day-packs loaded with nibbles and lunch Jude and I did a short sharp climb up to Key Summit. It was interesting on the way in from Te Anau, the sides of the roads were littered with fallen trees and branches that the last snow brought down, the weight obviously too much for the trees to hold. Arriving at the Divide it was slightly cool but we knewRead More →

With our house sitting in Sumner over and although we have had an amazing time, it was at the same time good to get back into our routine in our Moho. We spent the last two days moving bits and pieces of our own back into our motorhome. We picked Rosie and Giles up from the airport and the poor guys looked absolutely shattered from their long flight back from the UK, so with Jude and I already being aware that this would be the case we decided not to stay too long and allow the travellers to get some well needed sleep. Leaving themRead More →

Well it is now the weekend and what was days to go only seems like hours now. It’s Friday night and it’s over to Lyttelton for dinner and the Lyttelton Festival Of Lights. It’s 1600hrs and we decided to go early as we wanted to beat the crowd and to ensure we don’t have to fight for a seat at any of the restaurants. Once over at Lyttelton which was a quick as easy drive, the market food stalls were setting and boy did the aroma of different food flood our hungry nostrils… easy decision, it’s going to be stall food for dinner but firstRead More →

(Shane writes) – Yes… it is true, the curtain is dropping fast here in Sumner as the end of our House Sit crashes in what seems quite abruptly. Two months ago we thought wow what a long time to explore the area, the thought that it is a long time, but actually its come around so fast. We have been out doing things every day barring one where the weather was just not suitable for anything. We have always managed to find something interesting to do wether its hiking, biking, dining, Movies, theater plays, 4×4 drive or some other Cantebury attraction, really there is soRead More →
